Hi Everyone, well, it’s coming to the close of a long week and the weekend is just around the corner. Time to relieve some of the week’s stress away.
It is said that many people mispronounce words like strawberry, sword, film and so on. I have seen many posts on social media platforms that do highlight this. I have often shared with our clients that we do not have to be Masters of English in order to speak Fluently. We should, however, pay some attention on at least how some words are pronounced or stressed.
The stressing of some words can affect its meaning. So, while we don’t have to be Masters of English, we can sound a little more intelligent by knowing how stress affects words. Here are some examples:
1. Concrete – The grey stuff used for buildings
Versus
Concrete – Is the evidence that I have
2. Project – The work that needs to be done
Versus
Project – How long it’s going to take to do the work
3. Distributer – He is a distributer
Versus
Distributer – He distributes his goods
Here’s hoping you have a great weekend ahead!
