Preparation is absolutely everything
It’s going to be absolutely impossible to give a rock solid speech of any kind whatsoever without being completely and totally prepared for the situation.
Not only are you going to need to make sure that you have hammered out all of the details that you want to touch on in your speech, but you should also have covered enough background research to allow you to “roll off script” if you feel like that’s where the audience wants you to take things, while at the same time being confident about the message that you’re sharing.
There’s a world of difference between prepared speakers and how they feel before they step out onto stage and those that are trying to “wing it”. We think you’ll find that doing even just a little bit of preparation helps calm your nerves considerably and allows you to really own a message when the time comes for you to share it.
